Preston Road Corridor Gets $42M Makeover as Celina Braces for Next Wave of Growth
Celina City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a $42 million infrastructure bond for the Preston Road expansion, stretching from the current city limit south to the Frisco border. The project — expected to begin in July — will widen the corridor from two to six lanes and add dedicated bike paths and sidewalks on both sides.
Mayor John Sheridan called it "the most consequential infrastructure decision in the city's modern history," adding that the project had been in planning for over three years and was now fully funded through a combination of city bonds and Collin County transportation funds. A construction timeline and traffic management plan will be released at the next public meeting on June 3.
